Daytona Post Race Report

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (July 3, 2016) - David Ragan, driver of the No. 23 Shriners Hospital for Children Toyota Camry, scored a top-20 finish at Daytona International Speedway after enduring through the 160-lap race to finish in the 16th position. Teammate Matt DiBenedetto was caught up in a mid-race wreck and after repairs to the Dustless Blasting Toyota Camry, he finished 33rd.

"We really had a car that drove well," Ragan said following the race. "I think that we needed a little bit more speed to contend for the win but our car drove nice and on the long runs we were really good. We just needed to restart on the outside lane those last two restarts -- starting fifth and seventh we were just kind of a sitting duck on the bottom. Those guys in the second lane can get really good runs and then they can move to the third and on the bottom, you're just stuck. You don't have anywhere to go. Unless you restart on the front row the bottom is not that good of a choice. Great day for our Shriners Hospital Toyota. It was a fun race and I'm glad to be in one piece."

From the drop of the green flag, Ragan and crew chief Patrick Donahue began to dial in the No. 23  Shriners Hospital for Children Toyota which was tight at the start of the race. As the race developed, Ragan was happy with the handling of the car and moved into the top-15 where he would stay for much of the race.

As the race moved into overtime, Ragan was in 7th position and battling for more positions as the final laps ticked away. Getting stuck in the wrong lane, Ragan kept the car clean and brought home a 16th place finish for the No.23 BK Racing team.

The BK Racing teams now head to Kentucky Speedway on Saturday night, July 9, 2016 for the Quaker State 400.
