Chicago Post Race Report

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (September 18, 2016) - Matt DiBenedetto, driver of the No. 83 Mass Markets Toyota Camry finished 30th in Sunday's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 400 at Chicagoland Speedway. Teammate David Ragan, driver of the No. 23 Jewel-Osco Leonardo Toyota Camry, finished the race in 35th position

"Finished a hard fought 30th place today," DiBenedetto said. "Thank you to Mass Markets for being on board this weekend."

"We struggled with handling over the weekend," said Ragan. "These type of 1.5 mile tracks have an old and bumpy surface which have given us issues this year. The team made some improvements during the race. But two speeding penalties hurt our chances for a top 25."

After rain shuffled Friday's schedule and canceled qualifying, NASCAR chose to line up the field by the driver point standings. David Ragan took the green flag from 32nd, Matt DiBenedetto from the 35th position.

As the beginning of the race unfolded, David Ragan visited pit road at Lap 47 and received a speeding penalty. An untimely caution immediately following the penalty caused Ragan to go 2 laps down early in the race. A second speeding penalty came at Lap 217 and crew chief Patrick Donahue believes the pit road speed was calculated wrong at the beginning of the race.

Battling a tight race car all throughout the TMNT 400, Matt DiBenedetto and crew chief Gene Nead worked on adjustments throughout the race and the No. 83 Mass Markets Camry showed speed despite being laps down.

Up next, the BK Racing teams head to New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the New Hampshire 300 on Sunday, September 25th with the green flag expected at 2:15 p.m. ET.
